A pall of grief hangs over the construction site of Everton’s new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock, following the tragic death of a 26-year-old construction worker. The incident, which occurred around 12:30-1:00 pm August 14th 2023, involved heavy machinery and resulted in severe head injuries, ultimately claiming the young man’s life despite the efforts of first responders and medical teams.

Immediate Response and Investigation

First responders, including the North West Ambulance Service and an air ambulance, rushed to the scene, highlighting the severity of the incident. The worker was swiftly transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The construction company, Laing O’Rourke, confirmed the worker’s involvement in the project and expressed shock and sorrow over the tragedy. Merseyside Police and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are actively investigating the incident, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive understanding of the circumstances surrounding the fatality.
