Meet PPI’s Paul Davies and Richard Beasley at ASEC 2025

Paul Davies

MA (Cantab), CSEP, MINCOSE

Richard Beasley

B.Sc. (Physics), M.Sc. (Gas Turbine Engineering), CEng, ESEP

PPI is excited to sponsor the INCOSE ASEC and will be represented by Paul Davies and Richard Beasley, PPI Course Presenters and Principal Consultants.

PPI is thrilled to be part of the INCOSE ASEC 2025 from 25–26 November. As a proud sponsor and exhibitor of this event, we look forward to engaging with the global systems engineering community.

Take the opportunity to connect with Paul Davies and Richard Beasley and explore how PPI or CTI can help you achieve your systems engineering goals. Whether you’re looking to discuss industry challenges, explore professional development opportunities, or just have a friendly chat, both of them are eager to connect and share insights.

Join us for the two sessions below presented by Paul:

PPI Presentation: Overcoming Engineering Project Challenges

Date: 26 November 2025
Time: 9:00–9:15

Presenter: Paul Davies

Abstract:
Projects across industries continue to struggle with poor requirements, integration issues, stakeholder misalignment, and weak decision-making. In this 15-minute sponsor session, PPI will highlight proven practices that directly address these challenges and share quick insights delegates can take back to their organisations. Attendees may also gain access to free resources including PPI Systems Engineering Newsjournal, SE Goldmine, the Systems Engineering Tools Database and more, to continue strengthening their practice.

Systems Engineering 101: System Integration and Test

Date: 26 November 2025
Times: 11:00–12:30 (Part A) | 13:30–15:00 (Part B)

Presenter: Paul Davies

Session Description:
The path to acceptance of a new system is paved with pitfalls. System elements fail in integration testing, rework follows, then re-testing, and repeat as the full system is synthesised. The whole process can be difficult, time-consuming and inefficient.

But it doesn’t have to be. The good news is that principles and processes exist to cover progressive assurance of systems, backed by many decades of cross-industry practical experience. Trying to follow every recommendation can be as financially ruinous as skimping on the integration and test activities to meet milestones, and suffering the resultant rework costs.

The talk is based partly on the INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook, and partly on the presenter’s INCOSE UK ‘Don’t Panic!’ guide to system integration and test (SIT). It will cover the following principles and techniques:

  1. Establishing a common language – key concepts
  2. Failure modes and effects (includes group activity)
  3. Requirements and their relationship to SIT
  4. Rich traceability and progressive assurance – V versus V, trust models
  5. Planning and sequencing (includes group activity)
  6. Assembling the evidence – a model to support the acceptance case
