Pat started his career as an Australian Army Officer in the Royal Australian Infantry Corps with the last years of a 20-year career, managing a significant program of projects to support numerous specialist endeavors for the Army.
After the Army, Pat began his consultancy business and built it into a medium enterprise. Along the way, he also bought into a Master Franchise for a distribution business.
His consulting experience is vast and has included numerous assignments where he:

  • Fixed broken programs or projects such as a large Federal SAP program that was about to go to litigation or a very large and messy IT and applications program comprising multiple CRMs, 70+ data stores, many other applications, and a business intelligence capability.
  • Managed complex or difficult programs or projects, including a $500m Australian Defence targetry program replacing and upgrading 150+ ranges across 40+ training areas in Australia and overseas or an SAP Concur implementation along with a new travel partner and new credit card system on top of a large Oracle budgeting and forecasting rescue for an Australian power generation and distribution business.
  • Consults where a business or organization needs robust and defensible solutions to intractable problems, such as a root and branch review of the Royal Australian Navy’s regulatory system after the HMAS Westralia fatalities or fixing a Hospital Medical Imaging Department as well as assisting the Emergency Department and the Surgery Department with numerous issues including patient throughput, bullying, over budget every year, unhappy staff and union problems or assisting a struggling trawler repair business to secure work for the next 20 years.
  • Lectures and tutors in systems engineering management, requirements management, project management, and economics at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Pat is also a world-class IBM Rational DOORS expert and has trained hundreds of engineers and non-engineers in DOORS and requirements management.

Pat has a Masters in Technology Management, a Bachelor of Arts in managerial economics, and other academic and professional qualifications.

Pat has joined PPI as it is a great fit for him to share his wealth of experience in project management and systems engineering management with current and future project managers, engineers, and executives, shaping a better world.

Pat has now decluttered his life away from running two companies to where he now educates, trains, fixes, manages, and otherwise consults on interesting and challenging assignments for PPI, as well as building his new house (using insulated concrete forms [ICF] and structural insulated panels [SIP]) on acreage in the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland on Australia’s eastern coast.
