French Polynesia

Wine is produced commercially in French Polynesia at a winery on the atoll of Rangiroa, about 350km west of Tahiti, by Le Domaine Dominique Auroy. The bottle I have is a 2005 red, made from Carignan grapes, Eleve en fut de chene, Vendange Hiver Austral. The wine is of surprising quality. Other wines produced are a rosé, a dry white made from Italia grapes, a desert “Mellow White” made from late-fermented Italia grapes and a “Coral White” – grape variet(ies) unknown.

The winery has a very interesting website: www.vindetahiti.pf
