Training Objective
At the conclusion of this course, delegates are expected to:
- understand the conceptual basis of value and evaluation;
- be aware of common tender evaluation policies and practices of government and industry;
- be able to plan a tender evaluation;
- have the basic skills necessary to construct tender evaluation models which closely represent the
priorities of the sponsor and/or other stakeholders, and which deal effectively with risk;
- be able to perform tender evaluations within their fields of expertise;
- be aware of many of the traps in tender evaluation; and
- be able to prepare a source evaluation report.

Training Method and Materials
The course is built around a simulated tender evaluation project introduced early in the course. The workshop tender evaluation project is used as the vehicle for the presentation and development of most course topics. Computer-based support is used where applicable to simulate real tender evaluations. Lecture sessions are used to introduce concepts, and to cover some topics which are unsuited to a workshop approach. Course notes and handouts contain extensive reference material. You will be provided with:- comprehensive bound Course Notes containing presentation material;
- a workbook containing workshop exercises, with worked examples also distributed in most cases;
- numerous supplementary descriptions, checklists, forms and charts which you can put to use immediately.
Who Should Attend This Seminar/Workshop?
This course is designed for people who are responsible for tender evaluation policy, planning or implementation in relation to the supply of major capital items or the provision of substantial services. Job titles of typical participants are likely to include project manager, business manager, project engineer, acquisition manager, financial manager, evaluation team leader, contract manager and the like. The course is also intended for prospective tender evaluation team members; ie all persons performing tender evaluation functions.
Staff responsible within tenderer organizations for the preparation of tenders and proposals will also find the course to be of relevance to the preparation of effective responses to requests for tender and requests for proposal.
